What to expect the moment you arrive

The Douro is where you slow down. Rent a car or take the scenic train from Porto to Pinhão and post up at a quinta for two nights minimum.

Arrival notes

Easiest via Porto. The train ride (~2.5h) is one of the prettiest in Europe — sit on the right side heading east.

Getting around

A rental car opens up quintas; otherwise base yourself in Pinhão or Peso da Régua.
